When I grow up I want to be a knight!

FINDING OUT ABOUT JOBS PEOPLE DO
Over the past few weeks some of the children have been curious about different jobs, which led to exploring this theme. Some of our parents were able to send in photos or items related to their jobs, resulting in some great conversations and opportunities to develop vocabulary.

We talked about how some of our mums and dads do similar jobs eg. in the RAF. We also talked about how we are different and are good at different things.

This lovely princess went to see daddy at work and took charge!

Uniforms and safety clothing were talked about. Hard hats and soft hats were compared and the children learnt about why certain people needed to wear them for protection and to be seen.

One of our parents is a dentist and the protective gloves and mask led to lots of discussion about germs! Then followed a conversation about the importance of looking after our teeth.
At the end of the week the children thought about what they would like to do when they grew up. Answers included princess, window cleaner, doctor, postman, builder and knight!

ENJOYING MUSIC AND MOVEMENT

The children love the story of "Smarty Pants", and had a great time acting out the story. They went flying, skiing, racing and swinging through the jungle moving to a range of music.
Back in the classroom, these children decided this sheet was ideal for using like a parachute and it was delightful to see them cooperating and playing games without any adult support.

BUSY FINGERS

Each week a range of opportunities are provided to encourage the children to develop their fine motor skills, and it is pleasing to see them going back again and again to activities to explore and practise.
