Christmas celebrations!

ALL READY FOR OUR NATIVITY PERFORMANCE
We performed with the older Foundation stage and Key Stage One children, "Angel Express" in front of packed audiences - and how did we do? We were fantastic!

CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY!
We joined the whole school in raising money for Save the Children to help boys and girls who don't have as much as we do.
TIME TO MAKE DECORATIONS
We were extremely busy all afternoon, cutting, gluing and glittering!

IT'S CHRISTMAS PARTY DAY!
These children clearly know how to party! We all had a great time joining together for party games and dancing, as well as delicious food!
We made some jazzy party hats too!

 Time to eat and talk!

Santa had left a huge box for us under the Christmas tree! We tried to guess what may be in it, and carefully opened all the parcels inside.
Friends of Chestnut Street School very kindly gave each class some money for Christmas, and Santa had clearly been very busy in the local charity shops hunting down some wonderful books, jigsaws and toys for us!
A great end to a wonderful term.
Little Conkers and Mrs Courtney wish you all a very Happy Christmas
and a blessed new year ahead!

What amazing children we have!

BRILLIANT MARK MAKING!
The children were all eager to draw and write this week and they explained all the marks they had made on their giant pictures - some were patterns, others had red warning lines, others had sunshine and circles.
Every child had a go at copying their name, and all are making great progress in becoming more aware of lines and shapes that are used to form letters.

We've also had lots of fun with "Squiggle whilst you wiggle!" We moved to the "Happy" song, with flipper flappers making different shapes and in different directions and then practised some movements with pens on the paper.
These activities support the children's balance, muscle tone, grip and finger movements and lead on to early writing skills.

 STILL BUSY PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS

Presents to be wrapped and trees to be decorated!

The Nativity story continues to create lots of interest and discussion. It is so pleasing to hear the children retelling the story and remembering key events and character names. The angel has travelled far and wide this week!!
We perform our lower school Nativity next week! The children have made star hats and have done so well in learning the songs!

Counting the days to Christmas!

THE START OF ADVENT
The children had lots of questions when they arrived on Thursday morning to find decorations, stockings and a calendar that had appeared overnight!
We talked about December being a very special month when we remember Jesus' birthday, and we celebrate as we count down by opening Advent calendars and thinking about all of the people in the story of Jesus.
We have been telling the story of the Nativity with our wonderful knitted characters and the children have been enthralled by this story. As the week has gone on they have been able to recall characters' and place names.

The children have enjoyed retelling the story, and there have also been some slightly different events as the children's imaginations have been active!
The children are practising songs for our school Nativity and they they have been singing the songs as they have moved the appropriate characters around the table!
Delightful to hear!
BRR! JACK FROST HAS BEEN ABOUT!
And what did the children do as soon as they got outside? Feel the ice and frost, of course! They were fascinated by the ice in the water tray, too, and got a big surprise when after a number of icy days, they put their fingers in and found they were wiggling their fingers in water again! This has led to lots of questions and talking about the temperature and how things change. Next week we will be investigating ice indoors!

 On the move!

BUSY LEARNERS
Little Conkers are exploring and interacting through the day.

Santa and his elves will be about next week... I look forward to seeing what adventures they may have!
